Hello, my name is Samantha Lepow. I am 17 years old and an IB senior at Bellaire High School. I live with my parents and two dogs in Houston, Texas. My hobbies include hanging out with my friends, volunteering with my youth group, and helping out in my community. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, and working on my ancestry tree. I have always been passionate about technology and trying to make the world a better place and hope to incorporate those into my profession later in life.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I started a business called SamSafe2020 in order to give back to my community during uncertain times. Initially, I designed and 3-D printed a "safe key" to allow people to open doors and push buttons in public spaces without spreading germs. I also sold branded masks, hand sanitizer, and another item I designed called a "mask tag." Throughout this experience, I spent a portion of my proceeds on delivering food to first responders and healthcare workers on the front lines in order to express my gratitude.
Now, as a senior in high school, I am searching for a new way to make a difference in my local area. Now more than ever, taking part in service and volunteer work is extremely important. In such a divided society, we need to find ways to connect with one another. Doing good deeds is one rather simple way to do so. Let's make the world a better place. Submit your story today!
